MARCIA
DAWSON

Small Animal Practitioner (Ret)
About
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Marcia attended Duke University where she met her future husband Doug. Marcia and Doug moved back to Doug’s home in Indiana where they raised their family surrounded by a menagerie of dairy goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens and cattle on their farm outside of Indianapolis. When the kids were old enough to be without a full-time mom, Marcia finished her degree in Biology and Chemistry and then attended Vet School at Purdue University. After graduation, she practiced in near-by Brownsburg and continued to raise Angus cattle with Doug.
Scotties came into Marcia’s life in the mid 1980’s and have been family members ever since. Marcia has produced several litters for her HiJinks Kennel over the years, and has achieved multiple titles on her dogs in conformation and performance sports. She became a member of the STCA in 1986 and has been involved with the Health Trust Fund for many years. The HTF has been a natural fit for Marcia and is a satisfying way to contribute to the breed she loves.
