Top 5 Pup Cups of 2026

SUMMERTIME IS
PUP CUP TIME!

What is a Pup Cup?

Pup cups are small servings of plain whipped cream or soft serve ice cream given to your Scottie as a special treat when you use the drive-thru at several fast food restaurants and coffee shops.

Where can you find them?

  • Starbucks started all the fun with the Puppuccino, a free expresso-sized serving of plain whipped cream. No coffee here!
  • Dairy Queen offers a Pup Cup made up of vanilla soft-serve with whipped cream on top. Some locations even have a dog biscuit on the top. This is an actual order so is not free, but your Scottie is worth it!
  • Dunkin’ also offers a free pup cup consisting of plain whipped cream, but no donut here for your Scottie.
  • McDonald’s has an off-menu pup cup that is a favorite with some canine taste testers, for a small charge. Not all McDonald’s will have them, so you will have to do your homework before you go.
  • Dutch Bros, a Denver based chain, offers a serving of plain, low fat whipped cream in the cutest cup of all the contenders!

Is a pup cup safe for my Scottie?

A pup cup is safe as an occasional, special treat. However, some dogs have trouble digesting  lactose in dairy products and may develop some GI upset if this summer treat is indulged too frequently.

***IMPORTANT WARNING***

The artificial sweetener xylitol (birch or wood sugar) is often used in non-fat or sugar free foods, candies and ice cream for people. Xylitol is fine for people but is toxic and can be fatal to dogs. Before accepting a dog treat from a local drive-thru, always confirm that the whipped cream or soft-serve ice cream is NOT sugar-free.  If you have any doubt, skip the treat!

HAPPY LICKING!
