STCA Rotating Specialty Weekend 2026

STCA ROTATING 2026

The STCA Rotating Specialty Weekend hosted by the Heart of America Scottish Terrier Club at Purina Farms is in the books!

The HTF joined the festivities with a blood draw clinic for the DNA Bank and a presentation on Scottie Cramp Research!

23 Scottie blood samples were expertly collected by vet techs Julia Ward and Jenna Wilson. The samples, now safely stored in the DNA Bank at Azenta Life Sciences in Indianapolis, will provide excellent DNA for future research.

HUGE THANKS to all the Scottie owners who brought their dogs to participate in the HTF DNA Bank!

Rebecca Welly & HTF Chair, Marcia Dawson

The evening presentation was given by Rebecca Welly, Senior Research Specialist at the Canine Genetics Laboratory of the University of Missouri. The HTF invited Rebecca to provide an update on the Scottie Cramp project currently underway in her lab. The attendees learned about the process used in DNA research and what direction the Scottie Cramp project is taking.

And a new Call Out for more Scottie samples!

HUGE THANKS to Rebecca Welly and the Canine Genetics Lab for all of their work and terrier tenacity to keep hunting for the answers to Scottie Cramp in our dogs!
